About Us
Paul Greenwood
Our Founder and Managing Director, Paul Greenwood (CChem MRSC) joined UKAS in 2006 after a 13-year post-graduate career in the Drinking Water / Environmental testing and laboratory instrument manufacture sectors. During his 17-year career at UKAS, he progressed from the role of assessment manager / technical assessor through a variety of senior management roles to his ultimate position as UKAS Operations Director.
In addition to oversight of the accreditation of all of UKAS’ 3000+ conformity assessment body (CAB) customers and with an operations team of around 200 staff delivering 34,500 days of assessment with a turnover of £35M annually, Paul's executive role and membership of the UKAS board required him to take responsibility for ensuring the strategic development and delivery of accreditation nationally and internationally.
In support of his board responsibilities, Paul holds the Certificate in Company Direction, awarded by the Institute of Directors (IOD)
Paul remains an active participant on the steering committee of the Standing Committee of Analysts (SCA) and was a co-opted member of Lichfield District Council's standards committee for 9 years, acting in an independent capacity as a co-opted member, vice-chair, and ultimately chair of that committee
Paul set up Greenwood Quality Management Solutions Limited (trading as GQMS) in February 2023 (Companies House number 14638124) to foster his technical skills and to give practical support to companies wishing to demonstrate their competence and compliance in accordance with international standards, primarily in the testing, inspection, certification and verification (TIC) sectors:
